Our story began in middle school, where we first crossed paths, but it wasn’t until high school that we really started to get to know each other. Marie was in colorguard with Brian’s sister, Rachel, and through that connection, Marie reached out because she wanted to get to know Brian better. What started as a simple conversation turned into something much deeper.

Our first date was a trip to the movies, and Marie graciously let Brian pick the film. Naturally, he went with a movie that connected him to his childhood, something that would bring back all the good memories (and maybe a few questionable ones). So, instead of something romantic or trendy, we found ourselves sitting in a theater watching Power Rangers. Yep, you read that right.

One of the most memorable moments in our journey together happened when Marie invited Brian to senior prom. Brian had never been to a school dance before—and certainly never with a girl—so you can imagine how nervous he was. But Marie, always ready to bring him out of his comfort zone, was excited to have him by her side for the big night. We went with a group of friends and had an absolute blast, and the night ended just as special when we were on the limo ride back. Marie, feeling completely at ease for the first time, fell asleep on Brian's shoulder—something that would become a recurring theme in their relationship. From that moment on, Brian became her constant source of comfort, providing a sense of security she had never known before. Since that night, Marie has continued to push Brian outside of his comfort zone, encouraging him to experience new things and take on new adventures. Whether it's trying new foods, taking spontaneous trips, or stepping into the unknown, Brian has learned that with Marie by his side, there's nothing to fear. In 2017, Marie and Brian graduated from high school together, marking a huge milestone in their lives. Through every late-night study session, every stressful exam, and every moment of uncertainty, they were by each other’s side, supporting and cheering each other on. Whether it was reassuring one another before a big test or celebrating small victories along the way, their bond grew stronger as they navigated the ups and downs of their senior year. Graduation day itself was a whirlwind of emotions, but it felt perfect to walk across that stage together, knowing they'd made it through those unforgettable years hand in hand. It was a day that not only celebrated their academic achievements but also marked the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. As they looked ahead to college, they were both excited for what the future held. Brian was headed to Cal State Fullerton, and Marie was going to Cal State Monterey Bay. The excitement for new experiences and opportunities was undeniable, but there was also an underlying feeling of anxiety. The thought of being long-distance for the first time was tough, and while they were ready to take on the challenges of college life, neither of them was thrilled about being apart. But as always, they were determined to make it work.

Long distance during their first year of college proved to be a real challenge. With Brian at Cal State Fullerton and Marie at Cal State Monterey Bay, the six-hour distance between them felt even farther than it actually was. They relied on constant texting, phone calls, and FaceTime to stay connected, trying their best to make it work despite the time apart. Balancing the demands of freshman year—new classes, new friends, and all the changes that come with college life—while nurturing a new relationship proved to be almost impossible at times. There were moments when it felt overwhelming, like they were living two separate lives in different worlds. But through every late-night phone call and every FaceTime session, they never lost sight of the connection they shared. Despite the difficulty, they endured. And each time they were reunited, it felt like a celebration. Those moments—whether it was a weekend visit or a much-needed holiday break—were sweeter than ever, and they both knew that every second apart only made their bond stronger. It was a test of patience and love, but one that ultimately brought them even closer together.

Over the past eight years, Marie and Brian have shared countless adventures, traveling to places like Hawaii, Utah, Ohio, Arizona, Nevada, and many more. Each trip has been a chance to explore new places, make unforgettable memories, and grow even closer. Whether it was hiking in the breathtaking landscapes of Utah, relaxing on the beaches of Hawaii, or getting lost in the excitement of new cities, they've embraced every moment, always side by side. Back home, they've built a life full of love and laughter. They share their space with two mischievous cats, who keep things interesting and remind them daily of the little joys that come with life together. Through all the ups and downs, they've truly been living their best lives—growing up, growing together, and constantly learning more about each other. As the years have passed, their love has only deepened. They are more fond of each other now than ever before, and every day feels like a new chapter in their shared story. The adventures may have taken them to new places, but the most meaningful journey has been the one they've taken together.

Brian proposed to Marie in front of their home, which was beautifully lit up for Christmas, while they were both wearing matching Christmas jammies.
