We first crossed paths when Steve came to visit Carbondale in May of 2015. It wasn't until one work trip, later that fall, that we would meet again. This trip required Steve to drive from Minnesota to Decatur, so he stopped in Carbondale on the way and we immediately hit it off. After this weekend, we booked my first flight to Minnesota and the rest is history.

The morning of my birthday, I woke up thinking it was any other day. I was wrong. Steve had planned a special dinner for my birthday and I was told to be ready at 6:30. We went to St. Elmo's Steakhouse, a famous Indy restaurant special to us, and had a great meal and an even better time! On the drive home, Steve stopped at the Monument Circle so we could take a picture, since we no longer live downtown and miss it sometimes. We walked up on a woman taking photos of the monument with her camera and asked her to take our picture. She asked if she could take it on her camera and email it to us. Without hesitation, I agreed. I felt Steve take a step back and when I looked over, he was on one knee and asked, "Will You Marry Me?" I immediately was overwhelmed with emotion and cried out "YES!"
