Travel Note
If you are traveling from another country to our wedding, you must fly into La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City (GUA). We highly suggest trying to come in on Thursday or Friday to allow you to relax and enjoy Guatemala. Please see below for Guatemala City’s weekday and Saturday rush hours. Rush hour AM: From 6 am to 9 am Rush hour PM: From 4 pm to 8 pm IMPORTANT for you returning flight please arrive at GUA airport at least 2 hours before your scheduled flight.
Travel Note
CHECK YOUR PASSPORT'S EXPIRATION DATE Guatemala requires that your passport be valid for at least 6 months after your travel dates. NOTIFY YOUR BANK ABOUT YOUR TRAVEL DATES This helps avoid any blocks on your cards due to “suspicious” activity abroad. CASH AND CARDS The currency in Guatemala is the quetzal (GTQ). While many hotels and restaurants accept cards, cash is essential for markets, tips, small shops, and tuk-tuks in Antigua. You can withdraw from ATMs or exchange money at the airport upon arrival—rates are often similar.
Travel Note
You can use Uber in Guatemala City. It is the fastest and easiest way to get anywhere. You can request a ride directly through the app. Average fares per trip: Airport to hotels in Zone 10: $8–$10 Airport to Cayalá, Zone 16: $12–$15 Prices may vary depending on the time of day and traffic.
Travel Note
It’s common for routes out of Guatemala City (Zone 10, 14 or 16) to take around 45 minutes to 1 hour or more depending on the traffic toward Fraijanes, especially on weekends. We recommend leaving a bit earlier so you can arrive stress-free and ready to celebrate with us.
