It all started with music (it's a long one so grab a snack and settle in for story time, kids). Maria and Pedro first met way back in 2002 at a mutual friend’s birthday party in Caracas, Venezuela. Between arepas and catchy tunes, they bonded instantly over their shared love of music. That night sparked the beginning of a beautiful friendship—one filled with laughter, late-night conversations, and a connection that managed to survive long distances and time zones. Even after life took them to different corners of the world, they stayed in touch. In the summer of 2007, destiny brought them back together in Calgary. And just like that, they were inseparable again. By the summer of 2010, their friendship had started to blossom into something deeper. But as these things sometimes go, the timing wasn’t quite right. Life led them down different paths: Pedro became a proud father to his beloved Nolan, and Maria set off on an adventure in Australia. But the universe clearly wasn’t done with their story. In 2016, fate stepped in once more—and this time, it had perfect timing. They reunited, and it was as if no time had passed at all. Maria was drawn to Pedro’s gentle heart, great cooking skills and endless patience, while Pedro couldn’t resist Maria’s quick wit, quirky charm and spicy Venezuelan attitude! What started as friendship rekindled into the most wonderful kind of love. In 2019, they welcomed sweet Samuel into the world, and together, the 4 of them built a life full of beautiful moments. Before they knew it, years had passed, stitched together with love, laughter, music and lots of yummy food! (cooked by Pedro, of course). Then, in March of 2025, during a dreamy trip to Colombia, Pedro dropped to one knee in the heart of Cartagena. Maria’s jaw dropped (and stayed like that for a little while), but eventually—after what Pedro swears felt like forever—she said yes! And the rest, as they say, is history... Actually, not quite. This is just the beginning. We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with you.
