Should I rent a car

Question

What is the weather like in September? What should I pack?

Answer

Chia and the surrounding Sabana de Bogotá have a mild, spring-like climate year-round. In September, expect daytime highs around 65-72°F (18-22°C) and cooler evenings/lows around 47-54°F (8-12°C). It’s the start of the secondary rainy season, so afternoon showers are common (often short but intense), with mostly comfortable, overcast conditions. Pack layers for temperature changes: light sweaters, jackets, or shawls for evenings; comfortable walking shoes; sunscreen; and a lightweight rain jacket or compact poncho for possible showers. Bring an umbrella if you like. For the wedding, choose elegant attire that works with mild weather—formal or cocktail with comfortable shoes for any outdoor elements. Casual clothes for daytime exploring.

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

Yes, we’re happy to celebrate with the fam!

Question

How safe is the Chia/Tabio/Canica area for tourists?

Answer

The region is generally welcoming and safe for visitors who use common sense: stick to populated areas, use Uber or arranged transport (especially at night), and avoid flashing valuables. Many tourists enjoy day trips here without issues. Your accommodations will provide extra local guidance, and we’ll share more tips in the welcome packet.

Question

What cute and relaxing things can I do nearby?

Answer

September’s mild weather is great for light outdoor activities (with rain jacket handy). Popular options include: • Strolling Chia’s charming Plaza Mayor or Sopó’s quaint town square. • Scenic views and short walks at Capilla de La Valvanera (near Chia) or Alto de Canicas (near Tabio/Canica). • Day trips to the stunning Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral or Laguna de Guatavita (best with a group tour). • Gentle countryside drives, horseback riding, or relaxing in parks around Cajicá. • Evening fun at Andrés Carne de Res in Chia for lively Colombian food and atmosphere. Many guests combine these with shopping at local malls if they want something easy.

Question

Any other tips?

Answer

Download offline maps (Google Maps works well offline), consider travel insurance covering trip delays or weather, and feel free to ask about flight recommendations or extending your stay in Bogotá or elsewhere. We can’t wait to celebrate with you in beautiful September Chia!
