Mari and Jay met in High School Geometry class when Mari was a sophomore whilst Jay was a senior. As many may know, Mari and Jay are polar opposites in personality. You have Mari who’s adventurous and flamboyant and then you have Jay who’s reserved and tranquil. Nevertheless, their relationship can attest that opposites do in fact attract and keep the balance. In the earlier years of their relationship (teenage years), everyday after school, they would go to the beach to unwind and watch the sunset. Mari and Jay likewise would watch movies at the theaters, (one of their favorite pastime) and to this day have collected an abundance of movie tickets. Being that Jay and Mari are a true definition of High School Sweethearts, they both grew together as individuals and even stronger as a couple. Jay and Mari continue to be present in each others’ milestones and creating many memories. They both love to travel and consume variety of cuisines. Their first travel destination was Philippines in 2015, the Motherland. Then Japan in 2017 and 2018. Follow up to numerous vacations to Las Vegas (9th Island), as well as the Bay Area and Los Angeles. Even outer island visits to Maui, Kauai, and Big Island are in the books! Twelve years beyond everything, Mari and Jay in unison are celebrating a new chapter in their lives, hand in hand in marriage.

On their 9th Anniversary, Jay got down on one knee and proposed to Mari on the very same spot he asked her to be his girlfriend nearly a decade prior, at St. Theresa Chapel. This place will forever hold a special place in the couple’s hearts because it is where their relationship was established and flourished.
