Billy was one of Mariana's sister's friends in high school. Years later, Mariana and Billy re-connected over Facebook in early 2010. Their first date was at Buffalo Wild Wings. They started texting daily and hanging out at their favorite places, Borders and Thompson Park. Overtime, they became closer and on September 17, 2010, Billy asked Mariana to be his girlfriend.
Billy, my fiancé, and I go on random NYC trips every few months and decided to go on December 20, 2016. At this point, Billy and I have been dating for about six and a half years and have discussed getting married, so for the past couple of years I have made jokes about him proposing. As we were walking through Manhattan we ate at Eataly – one of our favorite places. Billy kept talking about going to Central Park. We normally go there for a nice walk and to take our signature “selfie” with a gorgeous view. As we kept walking and going into little Christmas shops on the way I said, “do you want to go to Central Park so you can give me my "big gift"?”…again this isn’t a new question, and I’ve always asked it playfully. He responded his normal response, that he will propose when he's ready. I then said, “Billy, I didn’t mean a ring, I meant a big kiss!”, and he chuckled. After miles of walking, we finally arrived at Central Park and planned to walk to the top, but we were both freezing and tired, so he suggested we settle on a large rock near by. We took our usual selfies and then he said, “Ok Mariana you can have your kiss now.” And leaned to kiss me – only his nose was dripping! He wiped it and said, “Good thing I’m not proposing. If I were I would say I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. How was that?” and then he got down on one knee with a quivering voice and tears glistening in his eyes and asked, “Mariana, will you marry me?”
