The Important Stuff

The Wedding Website of Mariana Alvarez and Steven Taveras
Question

Is there parking for both venues?

Answer

The Penny does not have on-site parking, but there are several convenient options nearby in downtown San Luis Obispo. The Granada Hotel offers on-site parking for $20 per day; however, spaces are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. We’ve included a parking map above to help guide you. There is a public parking garage on Marsh Street, as well as metered and free street parking within a short walk of both venues.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the venue?

Answer

The Penny is right in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo, with plenty of hotels within a short walking distance. However, for our guests staying in Santa Maria, we’ll be providing shuttle service to and from centralized locations, as the venue is a bit farther away. Pick-up and drop-off details will be finalized closer to the date based on where guests are staying. If you’d like to reserve a spot on the shuttle, please let us know when you RSVP so we can make sure everyone has a seat. Please note: Shuttle service is for the wedding day only.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

We would love your response by July 17, 2026. Early replies help us plan a fun and seamless celebration for our traveling guests. If anything changes, we completely understand and appreciate a quick update. After this date, we'll finalize our plans and assume anyone who hasn't responded is unable to attend.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Welcome Mixer Attire The welcome mixer is a cocktail-style reception at the Granada Hotel & Bistro. We're calling it polished and fun. Think elevated casual, cocktail-ready, and comfortable enough to mingle. Feel free to lean into color, prints, or statement pieces, while keeping the look polished. Wedding Day Attire For our wedding day at The Penny, we invite everyone to dress semi-formal. Think timeless, intentional looks that feel refined. We suggest nice dresses or stylish jumpsuits for the ladies. For the gentlemen, dress shirts with slacks, blazers, or sport coats are perfect. To keep the focus on the couple, we kindly ask guests to avoid wearing white, ivory, butter yellow or light pastels on the wedding day.

Question

When should I arrive?

Answer

The Penny doors will open at 3:30 pm, and the ceremony will begin promptly at 4:00 pm. We kindly ask that you arrive a little early to find your seats and be ready for the start, as we won’t be able to hold the ceremony for late arrivals.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

The venue denied our request for a ball pit and a slip-n-slide so unfortunately this will be an adults-only event.

Question

Are you registered?

Answer

We're not registered anywhere. Your presence is truly the best gift we could ask for.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We are keeping our wedding celebration very intimate and, unfortunately, cannot accommodate plus-ones for everyone. However, we truly value our single family and friends and want to make sure they feel celebrated too. If you would like to bring a guest, please reach out to us directly. We’ll do our best to accommodate you. ❤️

Question

Is there smoking allowed at both venues?

Answer

Both our wedding venue and welcome mixer locations are smoke-free. If you choose to smoke, please step away from the venue entrances and use appropriate public areas while following local regulations.

Question

I still have questions, what is the best way to contact you?

Answer

We're more than happy to help with anything you need, so please don't hesitate to reach out. You can call, text, or email us anytime with questions about the weekend. Mariana Alvarez 619-862-4843 marianakalvarez1@gmail.com Steven Taveras 646-884-3710 taveras.steven@gmail.com
