Mariana's version: One spring afternoon, all of Greek life got together to take a group picture. Once that was over, I met up with my friend Lauren and she introduced me to her sorority sisters before we made our way to dinner at The Commons, KSU's dining hall. The next morning, it was damp and rainy and I was regretting signing up for an 8AM class especially since I had no umbrella. Nonetheless, I begrudgingly made my way to the business building to take my Econ 101 final exam with the infamous Professor Gilliam. Even though my hair was now frizzy and my clothes were uncomfortably damp, I crushed that exam, and decided to reward myself with a big stack of waffles and maybe a chocolate croissant or two, so I headed on over to The Commons. Mind you, this was an 8AM exam on a rainy morning so I wasn't exactly dolled up. As I walk up to the doors of the dining hall, someone beats me to the door and holds it open for me and I quickly realize that it was none other than one of the girls I met the previous night. We chatted for a bit before going our separate ways. Little did I know she was there to meet Lauren and Lauren's roommate, Aubrey, for breakfast. As I'm meticulously preparing the batter for my well-deserved waffles, I get a text from Lauren urging me to go to the coffee bar because the guy she and Aubrey were trying to set me up with was with them. The waffles still had 2 minutes before they'd be ready so I thought, "what the heck," left them there to bake, and walked over to the front of the dining hall where the coffee bar was located. As I walk over, I see my friend's smiling faces and as I approach them, he turns around and the moment I saw his big blue eyes, I already knew he'd be the one. If you're reading this, you probably can guess what comes out of his mouth isn't the smoothest thing in the world, but I'll let him tell you the rest. 👇🏽 Daniel's Version: I was probably running late for class. It wouldn't be the first time, but priorities are priorities so I had to grab breakfast. Maybe it was because I was in a rush, maybe I just felt like switching it up, but for some reason I decided to sit at the very front of The Commons dining hall facing the door eating my scrambled eggs and bacon. It didn't take long before my friend Aubrey came in with a group of her friends who all stopped to say hi. Before we went our separate ways, Aubrey and company said I just had to meet their friend Mariana. Who am I to say no? Well, in walks Mari. The first thing I noticed about her was that she had something different going on about her. Mustering up my best moves (being a total dork) proceeded to ask in what I thought was smooth fashion "yOu'rE nOt AmErIcAn, ArE yoU?" Well, no, she confirmed. She was Brazilian. That was the first thing I ever said to my future wife before she abrubtly ran off to go tend to her burning waffles. That night, I just couldn't shake her from my head and after scouring Facebook and Instagram without luck finding this mystery Brazilian girl I decided to ask Aubrey when I could see this girl again. Good news for me, Aubrey connected us and I set off to think of the perfect text. What I came up with was probably just as bad as my initial offering, but I guess dorks get lucky too because now I get to marry this mystery dream-girl and call her my wife. Who would've figured? I guess things have a way of working out when they're meant to be.
