We met at a birthday party, and I recorded Nolan drunk dancing for the birthday boy. Next day, I sent him the "evidence". He didn't miss his chance and asked me out to dinner. I assumed he is hitting on me, but I didn't mind because he is so cute. Since our first date, we have been inseparable spiritually even with all the hardships of long-distance, oceans dividing us, pandemic and stresses of everyday life.
I remember flipping a coin to decide if I should go to the party or not. Luckily, I decided to go and got to spend some time talking to this gorgeous woman who thought I was German for some reason. I competed in a dance competition and lost track of her, asking around to find out more. To the next day, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a message from her, not so pleased when she shared video of dancing that wasn't as good as I remembered it being. I was blessed that even after that, she was willing to share a meal with me and ever since, I have been smitten. That coin flip was from a very lucky penny!
I knew that I wanted to do this after spending the happiest year of my life having Mariam with me. So what better place to make such a commitment then the hardest mountain hike possible in Virginia? After 4 hours of suffering through, crawling at times or jumping between boulders and not looking down, we finally reached the summit. Getting through that, I knew we could handle anything life threw our way and popped the question, still out of breath.
It didn't take me long to realize he is THE ONE. We are so similar in so many aspects, and yet so different in so many more. Every experience in my life is only meaningful if Nolan is involved. I know that I want a life full of adventures and excitements, and share all those moments with Nolan. Plus, I had to say yes, since I needed his help to climb down that mountain.
