We met at the AMEDD Basic Officer Leadership course in the Spring of 2024. The last three weeks, we started dating and decided to commit to each other knowing we would be long-distance. With one of us living in upstate New York and the other living outside Washington D.C., we spent the next year driving and flying thousands of miles to see each other as much as possible. After a year, we got engaged, both knowing we’d have two more years of long-distance. Despite all the challenges our jobs presented to us, we used any opportunity to see each other and made the most of the short time we had during each visit. Being long-distance has made our relationship stronger and our time together more special. We wouldn’t change a thing about our story and can’t wait to see where the future takes us.
