Isaac and I met on Hinge at a time when we were both just about ready to give up on it. We had each quietly decided that if nothing worked out soon, we were going to delete the app and move on. But instead of logging off, we found each other. For our first date, we met at an ice cream shop — which makes us laugh now because I’ve since learned Isaac actually hates ice cream. I showed up twenty minutes late (not my proudest moment), and he later told me he was convinced he was about to be stood up. Even before that, when he first saw me on the app, he thought I looked like the kind of girl who might break his heart — but he decided I was worth the risk anyway. What he didn’t know was that he had already completely won mine. Isaac was the only guy who showed up to a first date with flowers. That simple, thoughtful gesture melted me instantly. From that moment on, I was head over heels. What we thought would be a quick ice cream date turned into hours of walking all around downtown Salt Lake City, talking about everything and nothing at the same time. The conversation felt effortless. By the end of the night, we realized we had grown up in the same area. The connection was so natural that we planned three more dates that same week. On one of those early dates, Isaac sent me his address — and we were shocked to discover he lived only two streetlights away from me. Two streetlights. We still laugh about how we grew up so close and somehow never met until that exact moment in our lives. Isaac says he fell in love with me one night at the movies. We accidentally spilled some popcorn, and because it was late, I wanted to pick it up so the workers wouldn’t have to stay even longer cleaning up after us. He told me later that in that small, ordinary moment, he saw my heart — and that’s when he knew. Looking back, it feels like the timing had to be just right. Two people about to give up on love found it right down the street from each other. And now we get to spend forever together
