Our First Chapter After I graduated from Jackson State University in 2022, a family member shared my graduation pictures on Facebook. That’s when Malik added me — though he didn’t decide to actually show interest until months later. After talking for a couple of months, Malik drove from Dallas to Houston to spend the weekend together. We went to brunch at Phil & Derek’s, visited the Houston Aquarium, and explored the Seismique Art Museum. We’ve been inseparable ever since. The Journey For three years, we made our relationship work long distance between Dallas and Houston. During that time, we traveled to the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico — our absolute favorite thing to do together. When we weren’t traveling, we loved trying new restaurants or enjoying quiet nights in whenever we got the chance to be together. After those three years, Malik and I started a new adventure and moved into our first apartment in Dallas. The Proposal I had a feeling something was up — everyone around me was acting weird, including Malik, my family, and my friends. I even asked him if he was going to propose, and he told me he wasn’t! On Christmas Eve 2024, Malik told me we would be taking pictures with his family at his aunt’s house. When we arrived, he surprised me with the most beautiful proposal. His aunt’s backyard, overlooking the water, was decorated with lights and flowers — all done by Malik with the help of his family. As I walked down the aisle toward him, our loved ones handed me roses one by one. When I finally reached him, Malik gave the most heartfelt speech I’ll never forget. I said “yes,” fireworks lit up the sky, and we spent the rest of the evening celebrating surrounded by family and friends. Looking Ahead With God at the center of our love, we can’t wait to start this new chapter as husband and wife and share our special day with you!
