best friends forever

Josh and Mariah met where any great millennial love story begins – on Hinge. They kicked off their story in the lush landscapes of Uptown at an arcade bar called UpDown. Knowing Josh, Mariah didn’t win a single game that day, but his dry sense of humor must’ve been good enough to keep the spark going as they both committed to a second date. Within a month, they were going on back-to-back dates which included a trip to Can Can Wonderland. Josh sees little to no value in playing or competing in something without a bet, so naturally, he wagered Mariah that if he won in mini golf, she would have to delete her dating apps. Conversely, she wagered that if she won, they would take a trip to Seattle together, as she had never been. Wisely, Josh missed his last putt to tie the match. That night, the apps were deleted and they immediately started planning their trip to the West Coast. Normally, it’s ill advised to head on a multi-day adventure with someone you met online only a few weeks prior, but Mariah was confident in how she felt about Josh (plus, she took out a will, shared her location with 20+ friends AND stole Josh’s ID, just in case…). The trip was full of firsts for each and is where Mariah found her love of oysters (a theme, perhaps?). In 2020, Mariah moved in with Josh with a subtle assist from the worldwide pandemic. From there, their relationship grew and each of them started to picture a serious future together. They introduced each other to friends and family and were engrained into each other’s daily lives. Two adults and a pet in 500 sq feet will teach you a lot about yourselves very quickly, and by 2023, they decided to take the next step in their relationship and bought a house in Bloomington, Minnesota. Over the better course of 6 years, Mariah has fallen in love with Josh’s humor, affection and overall drive for life. Josh loves Mariah’s kindness, intelligence and ambition to be a better person each day. Together, they’ll never skip a sweet treat, or a night spent in with Maya. They’ve embraced each other’s faults and have developed, overall, a best friend in one another. They possess a love for life, friends, family and of course, Maya. In early 2024, with the assistance of Maya and the blessing of her parents, Josh proposed to Mariah in their backyard with the ring hidden in an oyster shell. Since then, they’ve been diligently planning what they hope is an unbelievably memorable night for them and you. Josh, Mariah and Maya look forward to welcoming you to Saint Paul on October 10th, 2025.
