We both went to Clarion University of Pennsylvania and ironically didn’t meet until our senior year. We both had a mutual friend, Stephanie, who had invited Dave over for a movie night. At first, it started as occasionally getting wings at Toby’s, spontaneously hanging out, and Dave finding any excuse to “just stop by for a minute” that always lasted much longer. Living two houses down made it easy to become friends, but it didn’t take long for both of us to realize that something more was growing. What started as neighbors turned into our favorite person to see every day—and now we get to call that beginning the start of our forever.

The proposal happened during a winter trip to Asheville, NC-a trip we had been looking forward to for months. We decided to hike Hawksbill Mountain with our dog, Brewer, despite the cold, icy weather that made every step an adventure of its own. By the time we reached the top, the view was breathtaking, the wind was freezing, and Dave took his time-nearly two hours-soaking in the moment and building up the courage for what came next. Finally, with Brewer, Dave, and I crammed on a little rock to take a picture, Dave somehow found just enough space to get down onto one knee. I said “no way” repeatedly in total disbelief until it finally sank in and I finally said YES. That is the moment we knew our forever truly began.
