THE MILLINGTON WEDDING

Damion and Mariah met at a young Houston Lawyers Event in January of 2019. Damion was there with two of his friends and Mariah was there with a classmate. They were introduced by one of Damion’s friend who just happen to also be Mariah’s tutor from Law school. There, the the two groups hung out together most of the night. Despite attending the same law school, it was the very first time the two had crossed path. After the event, the group went to a bar to hang out more. On the way to the bar, Mariah's was urged her to talk to Damion. Damion being a tall man and stoic in nature, made Mariah a bit nervous. However, she continued to be reeled in by his soft spoken yet vibrant voice and witty personality. As the night went on, the two got to know each other. Mariah's beautiful smile and larger than life personality had Damion enchanted and engaged. As the night came to an end, Damion became the nervous one and was actually going to let Mariah leave without getting her number!! If it wasn't for Mariah being pushed to ask for Damion's number, just maybe this wedding never would have came to be. Four years later, Damion and Mariah are so grateful for their journey because they both ended up exactly where they want to be! With each other!

Mariah did not know for sure, but a woman has her intuition and Mariah's senses were tingling. Her institution was telling her that a proposal was coming on Christmas or the New Year. Too many things were weird for Mariah. Tip 1: Damion wanted to go to Dallas for New Year Eve. Tip 2: Mariah's parents were randomly throwing a big NYE party. Tip 3: Damion told Mariah to invite her friends to the party. BUT as the day got closer, Mariah thought that a man would be nervous to ask a woman to spend the rest of their lives together, but not Damion. She was getting worried her intuition was wrong because Damion was cool as a cucumber, taking mid day naps, eating and drinking normally. Damion was not acting like he was about to propose. Little did Mariah know, Damion had already asked her father for his daughter's hand, bought the ring, and throwing her off his trail for over eight months. To add, Mariah's family wasn't acting weird either so she put a proposal out of her mind. On New Year Eve, as the couple got ready for the night's festivities, Damion knew Mariah was not expecting a proposal. Tip 1: Mariah wanted to wear leather pants. Tip 2: Mariah was making a half a** attempt at doing her hair. Damion had to recruit one of Mariah's friends to get her right for her big night. Her friend helped with her hair and convinced her that she should not wear those leather pants. During the NYE party, at a random point of the night after dinner around 10pm, Mariah's father asked Mariah to help cut a New Year cake. Mariah, the rebel refused, because she doesn't eat cake. However, Mariah's a Daddy's girl and her father loves cake, so she gave in and went to cut the cake. Mariah began to wrangle everyone in the house for the cake cutting. The group of friends and family began to ask Mariah to cut the cake. At this point of the night almost everyone but Mariah was expecting a proposal. Everyone was yelling at Mariah to cut the cake! Mariah was drinking though, so it never registered that she should have been suspicious. Mariah finally gave in and decided to cut the cake. Mariah began to open the cake bag and BOOM! she read "WILL YOU MARRY ME MARIAH?" on top of the cake. The remaining are Mariah's exact words of how she felt in that moment: "Omg I could not breathe. I was legit hyperventilating. I was so shocked and surprised and ecstatic I couldn't even say yes!! I just nodded like I was mute! Regardless, the best day of my life to date!! To be asked around all of my family and most of my friends and just to be immersed in all of the love! It was PERFECT!!"
