The wedding will be in Santa Teresa, which has some steep and narrow streets. You can take Uber or a taxi, but please note that not all drivers may go to Santa Teresa, and it might take longer to get a ride. To avoid delays on the wedding day, plan ahead. Important: If you take an Uber or taxi, please ask the driver to go via Alice Street. We will provide the phone numbers of taxi drivers familiar with the area so you can book your ride in advance - we will post them here about a month before the wedding. For the return trip, you can use Uber or ask our organizers to arrange a taxi for you.
We invite you to be fully present with us during the ceremony. Kindly refrain from phones, photos, or videos during the whole ceremony, including the entrances and exits of the couple and the wedding party. We have hired an amazing photography team to capture our day, and we promise to share the photos with you! Before and after the ceremony, feel free to take as many photos as you’d like! :)

Rio is an incredible city, and like any major destination, it’s best to take a few precautions: Be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas. Avoid displaying valuables (jewelry, watches, phones) in public. Use Uber or trusted transportation, especially at night. Stick to well-known neighborhoods like Ipanema, Leblon, and Copacabana. Do not walk alone late at night, particularly in quieter areas. Carry only what you need and leave passports/extra cash at your hotel. At the beach, avoid bringing valuables and keep belongings in sight.
We want you to fully enjoy your time in Rio! With that in mind, we recommend a few simple precautions when using your phone on the streets: Don’t walk and text - avoid using your phone while walking. Watch for snatchers - phones can be grabbed by people on bikes or motorcycles. Use your phone in safe places - step into a store, pharmacy, or café if needed. Keep it secure - store it in a front pocket or zippered bag (not your back pocket). At restaurants/cafés - don’t leave your phone on the table, especially outdoors.
* Downtown (Centro): Rio’s downtown, or Centro, is full of historic buildings, offices, and cultural attractions, but it’s best to be extra cautious. If you decide to visit, it’s recommended to go with a local or a guided tour, stick to well-traveled areas, and stay aware of your surroundings. * Copacabana: Copacabana tends to have a slightly higher frequency of petty crime, such as pickpocketing and phone snatching, compared to areas like Ipanema and Leblon. This is mainly because it’s very busy and heavily visited by tourists, which can attract opportunistic theft. That said, it’s still a popular and generally safe area to visit and stay - just be a bit more mindful and pay extra attention when you’re there. Maria’s note: I lived in Copacabana for 9 years while in Rio, and nothing ever happened to me - I never personally witnessed any incidents. However, it’s important to stay aware and know where and when to go, especially because thieves often target inattentive visitors. For visitors, I would suggest not spending too much time in Copacabana, particularly since Ipanema and Leblon are generally more beautiful and feel safer.
