Explore the Walled city

Explore the Walled city

Take a stroll through the charming streets of Cartagena's historic center, which is surrounded by impressive colonial walls. Admire the colorful colonial architecture, visit historic sites like the San Felipe de Barajas Castle, Plaza Santo Domingo, and the Cathedral of Cartagena. Don't forget to wander through the picturesque plazas and alleys filled with lively street vendors, artists, and musicians.

Take a Boat Trip to the Rosario Islands

Take a Boat Trip to the Rosario Islands

Just off the coast of Cartagena lie the beautiful Rosario Islands, a paradise for snorkeling, diving, and relaxing on pristine beaches. Join a boat tour or charter a private boat to explore the islands, swim in the turquoise waters, and marvel at the colorful coral reefs teeming with marine life. Many tours also include visits to the charming fishing villages and opportunities to enjoy fresh seafood lunches by the beach.

castillo de san felipe de barajas

castillo de san felipe de barajas

The greatest fortress ever built by the Spaniards in any of their colonies, the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas still dominates an entire section of Cartagena's cityscape. It was commissioned in 1630, and construction began in 1657. It was truly impregnable and was never taken despite numerous attempts to storm it. Some of the original tunnels are lit and are open to visitors – an eerie walk not to be missed. The fortress is a short walk over the bridge from Getsemaní.

Relax on the Beaches

Relax on the Beaches

Cartagena is blessed with stunning Caribbean beaches where you can unwind and soak up the sun. Playa Blanca, located on Isla Barú, is a popular destination known for its white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters. Tierra Bomba is closer to the city but you can also visit Bocagrande Beach, a bustling area with high-rise hotels, restaurants, and vibrant nightlife. Many Islands hotels have day passes (Blue Apple beach, Bora Bora, Eteka, Fenix Beach and Makani are some of them)

Experience the Cuisine

Colombian cuisine is diverse and flavorful, and Cartagena offers a variety of culinary delights to explore. Sample traditional dishes like arepas, empanadas, ceviche, and seafood delicacies freshly caught from the Caribbean Sea. Some of our favorite restaurants are: Salon Tropical, Manglar (great cocktails!), Celele, Buena Vida Marisqueria, Carmen, Agua de Leon, Don Diablo and Niku.
