How we met (MA's perspective): We were introduced by mutual friends while studying at A&M. After a few football games, Tios tailgates, mass at St. Mary's, and friendship (a year or 2 after initially meeting) Dylan finally invited me to dinner. One fateful Sunday after mass, I thought our "date" was going pretty great. It was not awkward at all, and I started to consider the idea of Dylan as something more than a friend. However without warning, Dylan looked at his watch, mentioned having to study for a test, asked for the check, and said his goodbyes. I later learned that he panicked and wasn't sure if our dinner was considered a date. Thankfully he officially asked me on a date the next time I was in town. Three months- in he told me he was going to marry me, six months in- we took a family trip to Nashville for our parents to meet, and now we are getting married! The engagement (DClay's perspective): In February of 2020 I came down to Laredo with my parents to ask for her hand in marriage. Her grandmother had generously given Maria Andrea her wedding rings to use for our marriage. Once I got back to Beaumont I began planning the proposal. Due to covid and long distance, my original plan got canceled and the engagement pushed back. Finally in September I surprised her while her family was visiting in Austin. She had mentioned wanting both our families to go to mass together at some point. I waited on her family to get to mass with my family behind some bushes. I've been told when they arrived I got so excited I left my family behind, popped out from behind those bushes, said "Well I guess you know why I'm here," got down on one knee and proposed.

Como Nos Conocimos (Perspectiva de María Andrea) Estudiando en A&M, nos presentaron unos amigos en común. Después de algunos juegos de futbol, Tíos tailgates, misas en St. Mary's, y un par de años de amistad, por fin me invito un día a cenar. Fue un día domingo después de misa. Pensé que nuestra cita iba muy bien. No sentía raro para nada e inclusive contemple la idea de ver a Dylan como algo mas que un amigo. Mas de repente, el ve su reloj, mencionó que tenía que estudiar para un examen, pide la cuenta y se despidió. Después me di cuenta que se puso muy nervioso y no sabía si en realidad nuestra cena era una cita. Lo bueno es que de nuevo me invito a una cita oficialmente. Tres meses después me dijo que se casaría conmigo. Seis meses después llevamos a nuestros padres a un viaje a Nashville Tennessee para que se conocieran y ahora estamos por casarnos. La Propuesta (Perspectiva de Dylan): En febrero 2020, vine a Laredo con mis padres a pedir formalmente la mano de María Andrea en matrimonio. Su abuelita muy generosamente le había regalado sus argollas de matrimonio para nuestra boda. Una vez que regresé a casa en Beaumont, empecé a planear una sorpresa para entregarle el anillo de compromiso. Debido a Covid y las distancias, mi plan original tendría que ser cancelado y el compromiso pospuesto. Finalmente en septiembre la sorprendí aprovechando la visita de su familia a Austin. María Andrea había mencionado que le gustaría que nuestras familias fueran juntas a misa. Esperé con mi familia atrás de un arbusto. Al ver llegar a María Andrea con su familia para entrar a misa, me comentan, que me emocioné tanto que me olvide de mi familia y salí del arbusto y le dije "Bueno, yo creo que sabes porque estoy aquí," doble una rodilla y le propuse matrimonio.

As we prepare for the sacrament of marriage, we ask that you please keep us in your prayers! We have chosen saints Louis and Zelie Martin to be the patrons of our marriage. They are exemplars of living out the faith through married life. We hope to sanctify the other through our love in the sacrament of marriage, with the Lord and each other. Al prepararnos para el sacramento del matrimonio, les agradecemos nos mantengan en sus oraciónes. Hemos seleccionado a San Luis y Celia Martin, como nuestros santos patronos. Ellos son ejemplos de fe por medio de su vida matrimonial. Esperamos también, saber santificarnos mutuamente por medio de nuestro amor en el sacramento del matrimonio con Dios.
