The airport you will want to fly into is Chania International Airport Ioannis Daskalogiannis (CHQ). There are no direct flights to Crete, however there are connecting flights available to the Chania airport (CHQ) from about any major European airport. For example, you may travel from New York to Athens directly, then connect from Athens to Chania via (approx.) 35 minute flight. You can arrange taxi service from the Airport to Chania at the airport.
There are no rideshare services such as Uber, Lyft, etc. in Chania. The most reliable transportation around Chania is the local Taxi service, outside of renting your own vehicle. The Taxi service's main pickup station is located at the 1866 Town Square, in front of "Bakery Patisserie & Coffee Shop Ntourountous Chania 1866 Square". Chania also offers municipal bus services which are convenient and cheap. They offer frequent stops up and down the coast line towns. As well as charter rides to local sightseeing locations and beaches. The main station is located adjacent to Samaria Hotel.
Tipping is not required in Greece and should never be included in the bill by food and beverage establishments. If you would like to tip, we recommend leaving just a few euros. This applies for food and beverage establishments and taxi services.
