Our Story

Maybe you've heard of something called The Invisible String Theory~

"The Invisible String Theory suggests that the universe keeps two people apart until the timing is right. And when they finally meet, there is a series of uncanny coincidences, as if the moment had been choreographed by a greater power. If even one detail had fallen out of place, their paths might never have crossed. Yet everything leading up to that moment was quietly preparing their hearts for each other." When we are asked when we first met, it’s surprisingly hard to answer. The truth is, we can’t pinpoint a single moment, because our paths had been running alongside each other- crossing and connecting- our entire lives. We both grew up deeply involved in the Greek Orthodox Church and community, as well as the Boy Scouts of America. Our schools were just down the street from one another, and every summer we returned to the same small town and the same lake. We attended the same camps and later even discovered photos of us together at a leadership training program when we were fifteen years old. Still, we didn’t truly *meet* until the Marietta Greek Festival in 2023. It was the final dance performance on Saturday night at the Marietta Greek Festival. Leo was saving seats for his family to watch his sister’s senior performance, while Maria was roaming the festival taking photos for her “Young Adult Sightings” Instagram series. Spotting Leo sitting alone and recognizing him from young adult events, Maria snapped a photo- #WaitingForTheShowToStart! then quickly walked over to explain that she wasn’t just taking photos of strangers. As the rain started to pour, Leo offered her the dry seat next to him, and we ended up talking through the entire performance. Little did Maria know, she had unknowingly sat down in the middle of Leo’s immediate and extended family- a high-stakes move in the Greek dating world. By the end of the night, we had exchanged contact information. By the fall, another Greek Festival rolled around- this time in Atlanta, where the Cathedral was feeling experimental and opted for a buffet instead of the traditional festival format. Leo asked Maria, since they were not feeding volunteers, if she would like to go out to have dinner with him after their shift. Over dinner, Leo realized he had met a woman who was kind, intelligent, strong in her faith, and confident in her convictions. Maria was struck by Leo’s faith, his self-assuredness, and his steady, resolute nature. From there, our relationship blossomed. In May of 2025, Leo proposed to Maria on the very lake they had both grown up visiting- crossing paths there time and time again without ever meeting. This time, the timing was finally right. Finding each other at the exact time and space in our lives that we were in was a lesson in the power of answered- and what feels at times to be unanswered- prayers. Through school years, Greek festivals, Scout camps, Church camps, community celebrations, college, and searching for our person, God was quietly writing a story far better than either of us could have planned. In May, we will come before Him to enter into the Holy Mystery of Marriage, to be crowned together, and begin a life bound by faith and love. With Christ at the center of our home, the string that once kept us connected across time will draw our Crowns together, uniting our lives in Christ.
