Henry and Maria met at karaoke night at Upper Deck Tavern in December 2010. Henry was seated at the bar with his friend Jake, who just wanted to have a good time. Maria, a 21 year old poetry student, was making her way through the narrow bar to the bathroom. "What is your name?" quoth Henry. "Maria," demurred Maria. "What are you doing?" asked Jake, the karaoke song book open on the bar between them. "What? She seems like a nice girl," said Henry. "I am a nice girl," said Maria, and she continued her way to the bathroom. Maria returned and sat at a table with her friends. Henry turned around on his barstool and beckoned her forth. "What do I do?" asked Maria. "Go talk to them," said her friends. Henry and Maria talked about many things. "Alright. What is your phone number?" Henry said, with a sense of the inevitable. And it was so. Maria's friends wondered who she was talking to, and they sent Casey Heath to find out. "Who are you?" said Casey. "Henry," said Henry. Casey's eyes narrowed. "Oh, you are very lucky that is your name," said Casey. It was true. Maria's favorite name was Henry. She had named every male character she had ever written Henry, but no one knew why. When Maria left with her friends, she was sheepish. "What am I going to do?" asked Maria. "He is definitely going to call me!" The next day Maria shaved her legs and put on her cutest outfit. She carried her phone at full volume all day, but Henry never called. That night, alone in a dark booth at Recovery Room Tavern, Maria pulled out her phone and texted Henry. "I have been wearing my cutest outfit all day and you didn't call," she wrote. "I'm sorry I missed that," he wrote. They made a plan to meet up later that week to get together and play Scrabble. And they have been together ever since.
