St George Island , FL is one our favorite destinations and one of our first vacations as a couple. St. George Island is known as the Forgotten Coast. The Beaches remain untouched with limited commercial development. St George Island is approximately one hour and a half from Tallahassee for a dat trip.
St. George is a favorite destination for beachgoers, bird-watchers and anglers, offering spectacular Gulf of Mexico sunsets and the best stargazing in the Panhandle. Miles of undeveloped beaches on this barrier island provide the perfect setting for the park, which offers ample opportunities for sunbathing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, boating, fishing, hiking, camping and nature study. On the gulf side of the island, enjoy perfect blue waters and miles of sugary white sands, and perhaps catch sight of a pod of dolphins.
This is one of Florida’s premier spring float locations. Drift beneath a canopy of trees as the grasses below sway in the gentle current of the river. The total float time is forty-five minutes and is a perfect stop for those traveling from South Florida to Tallahassee.
