Brian & Maria met in early 2024 through a co-ed volleyball league in Colorado that their friends convinced them each to join. After a few months (and Maria missing a lot of hints), Brian made his move and asked Maria on a date at one of their teammate’s housewarming parties. Over the course of numerous dates, drinks, concerts, adventures, and even a basketball league, they fell in love. On New Years Eve heading into 2025, Brian promised Maria that the upcoming year would change everything. And it did. In March 2025, Maria and Brian found out they were expecting. Just shy of a year after their first date, Brian surprised Maria with a proposal in Chicago, surrounded by both of their families at the Adler Planetarium overlooking Lake Michigan. Brian had a violinist playing “Fix You” by Coldplay down by the water. Brian and Maria civilly and privately married in October 2025 in Colorado, ahead of the arrival of their son Calvin, in December. Now, they’re so excited to validate their marriage in the Catholic Church — honoring their marriage, their faith, and the family they are building together.
