Flight options
For guests arriving from the UK, the closest aiport to the wedding venue is Plovdiv Airport. Flights to Plovdiv are available from London Stansted with Ryanair or London Luton with WizzAir. There is flights to Sofia Airport every day from all London airports, Manchester and Birmingham. For guests arriving from other countries, there is daily flights to Sofia Airport.
Hotel
Midalidare Hotel & SPA
This is where the wedding will be held and the whole hotel is available to us on the 13th Sep 2024 overnight. Please let us know if you would like a room in the hotel that night. If arriving earlier (e.g. 12th Sep), we can check for you if there will be availability in the hotel for that night too so please let us know. As another option, there is many places to stay in Plovdiv. We can recommend the DoubeTree by Hilton Hotel, HillHouse Plovidv, SOHO ApartHouse - all located in the center of town. There is many other nice hotels too as well as AirBnbs.
Rental Car
Getting to the venue
Midalidare Estate is about 1 hour drive from Plovdiv Airport and about 2 hours away from Sofia. The best way to travel is by car. If you are planning to rent a car, we can recommend Top Rent A Car, however, there is other options such as Sixt, Enterprise etc. We might be able to arrange a shuttle from Plovdiv to the venue or from the airports to the venue. Please let us know if that would be of interest, so we can arrange it. Public transport in Bulgaria is not ideal but there is buses and trains that run between Sofia and Plovdiv. Taxis should be available too but do note that most still take cash only. If taking a taxi from Sofia, we can recomment Volt Taxi's - there is an app and taxis get be pre-booked, Volt accepts cash and card payments.
Travel Note
Things to note
The currency in Bulgaria is the Lev. Most taxis accept cash only so make sure you keep cash on hand. Everywhere else card payments (Visa and MasterCard) are mostly accepted. If renting a car and staying in central Plovdiv for some of the nights, double check the place you have booked has parking available as that won't always be the case.
