Things To Do

We're excited to share a few of our favorite spots with you.
Alcatraz Island

Alcatraz Island

San Francisco, CA

Notorious prison & once home to Al Capone, now a museum with a great audio tour. Plus a fun ferry ride across the bay and back.

Presidio of San Francisco

Presidio of San Francisco

San Francisco, CA

The Presidio is the National Park where our wedding venue is located. It's 1,500-acre park on a former military post and today is a major outdoor recreation hub. It has forested areas, miles of trails, a golf course, and scenic overlooks. Other highlights include grassy Crissy Field with Golden Gate Bridge views, Civil War–era Fort Point and a walking trail called Lover's Lane.

California Academy of Sciences

California Academy of Sciences

San Francisco, CA 94118

Natural history museum with an aquarium, planetarium, and amazing grass roof.

Muir Woods National Monument

Muir Woods National Monument

1 Muir Woods Road, Mill Valley, CA 94941
, (415) 561-2850

Scenic, forested park featuring giant redwood trees and an easy, short walk through the forest. If you're lucky, you may see wild turkeys. You will probably need access to a car to drive to the park. It's about 30 minutes from downtown with no traffic.

North Beach

North Beach

1435 Grant Ave, San Francisco, CA 94118

North Beach, known for its Italian heritage, is one of Alex's favorite San Francisco neighborhoods. Pop into Schein & Schein to browse antique maps. Climb Telegraph Hill by way of the Filbert Steps to see the iconic Coit Tower, with WPA-era murals and panoramic views (beware, it is strenuous to walk).

Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point

Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point

San Francisco, CA 94129

The best spot to see the bridge is in Sausalito, across the bay, at the Golden Gate Bridge View. There's parking and you can walk the bridge.

La Cumbre Taqueria SF

La Cumbre Taqueria SF

515 Valencia Street, San Francisco, CA 94110
, (415) 863-8205

Alex's favorite spot for a mission burrito, and it's on a great street for shopping and strolling.

Zuni Café

Zuni Café

1658 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94102
, (415) 552-2522

Highly recommended for their world-famous roast chicken and Caesar salad.

Liholiho Yacht Club

Liholiho Yacht Club

871 Sutter Street, San Francisco, CA 94109
, (415) 440-5446

We love this restaurant so much. It's a blend of Hawaiian and Asian cuisine. If you go, get the baked Alaska for dessert.

Burma Superstar

Burma Superstar

309 Clement Street, San Francisco, CA 94118
, (415) 387-2147

Delicious Burmese food-try it!

V. Sattui

V. Sattui

1111 White Lane, St. Helena, CA 94574
, (707) 963-7774

If you decide to head to Napa for some wine tasting, this is the Monterrubio family's favorite spot. They have an excellent deli for lunch.

In-N-Out Burger

In-N-Out Burger

333 Jefferson Street, San Francisco, CA 94133
, (800) 786-1000

Classic east coast versus west coast. Alex prefers In-N-Out, Margot says Five Guys is better. East coasters, try it and tell us what you think.
