A love now ready for "I do"

They met in summer of 2019, In New York's lively air, Two strangers bound for dental school, A spark not yet to share. She hailed from Long Island's shores, He, from SF's bay, Now together in Washington Heights, Living just 9 blocks away. Through downtown nights and karaoke tunes, They laughed till their hearts were light. With Artichoke pizza in their hands, Their bond began to ignite. Then at a Murder Mystery soiree, On one cold and windy night, He took her into his tattooed arms, And kissed her while holding her tight. On the slopes of Hunter Mountain high, They skied through Blacks and Blues, And in the darkness, they counted stars, Laughing the whole night through. Then March brought a dark chaos, The spread of COVID-19, And they feared for their nascent romance, Unsure of what this could mean. In-person classes were cancelled, And their classmates all went home, But the Metz family on Long Island, Took in Connor as their own. They spent quarantined nights painting, And held dinners full of charm, While all around, the world seemed bleak, Their love kept them warm. When normalcy returned, They continued as a team, Moving down to the Upper West Side, Their reality felt like a dream. After receiving their dental degrees, Came a year of living apart, But we all know what they say, About distance and the heart. On Valentine's Day in Chapel Hill, From a box so thoughtfully wrapped up, She lifted a tiny collar, For their future Border Collie pup. In March on bended knee, By a Scotland castle grand, With a diamond passed through family ties, He asked her for her hand. Now Pepper the pup joins their fold, A family of three, In the Alamo City of the Lone Star State, Till Connor completes residency. From friends to lovers, through trials vast, Their hearts stayed ever true, For Margot and Connor found in life, A love now ready for "I do."
