They met when they were five. The first day of kindergarten 1999. Margeaux chased Derek around the playground. Derek thought she had cooties. It was a whirlwind romance from the start. As fate would have it, only a few short years later, Margeaux moved schools, and their love story was put on pause. As high school started, Margeaux and Derek’s paths crossed again. This time they were just friends. Margeaux teased Derek. Derek thought she was annoying. Eventually, they went off to college, again to the same school. They saw each other less frequently, but they still remained friends. After school, they reconnected unintentionally one New Year’s Eve. This time something was different. And they realized they liked each other a little bit. Maybe a lot. Soon after, they boarded a one-way flight to Thailand and traveled the world, to places that were hard to reach and hard to get out of. They finally returned home, and 6 months later Derek proposed. It only took 6 months. 21 years and 6 months. And the rest is history.
