Yes! We know it's very little notice. The Free Library of Philadelphia is our dream venue and right now they're not booking future events, so it was 5/31/24 or bust - we're going for it!
Feel free to browse the library earlier in the day when it's open to the public. It will then close to prepare for the wedding and doors will open again at 6:45pm. The ceremony will start at 7pm. If you get there before 6:45pm, we suggest taking some pictures outside at Logan Square or along the avenue leading up to the Art Museum.
If you're able to Uber/Lyft/cab, we recommend it! If you prefer driving, there is a ton of street parking all around the venue that is metered through an app or you can pay at the closest kiosk. There are also several lots within a couple of blocks that charge for parking.
Unfortunately, no, not during the wedding. You'll see parts of the library, but we won't have access to the stacks. If you'd like to go during normal operating hours, Alex and Margaux recommend you go to the rare books section - it's their favorite part with a special section for Dickens and Poe who have history with Philadelphia!
It is! There are a few stairs up to the entrance on Vine Street. If you're not able to take any stairs, the wheelchair accessible entrance is on the opposite side of the building. Once inside, there are elevators that can take you to the other floors for the cocktail hour and dinner / dancing.
No - the rest of the weekend is yours! Sleep in, grab a delicious brunch at any of Philadelphia's amazing restaurants, go exploring - whatever you want!
Cocktail attire
Assuming the weather cooperates, we will be inside for parts and outside for dinner and dancing. It can get cool after sunset in Philadelphia in May, so we encourage you to bring another layer (shawl, jacket, cardigan, etc.) to keep warm just in case.
No, no wedding shower! We will just have the wedding to celebrate.
It's completely up to you! Please go to the 'travel' section to see a list of recommended hotels. If you want to rent a house, apartment, or condo through Airbnb or VRBO, we encourage you to check the location on Google Maps to ensure it's in an area you are comfortable with and you want to be in and don't solely base it on what it looks like on the inside. Our wedding is in Logan Square so any places near there, in the Art Museum area, in Center City, or in the Rittenhouse section of the city are ideal for proximity. Kensington, Nicetown, Fishtown, Germantown, and North Philly locations are not convenient locations for this venue.
