Maggie and Tommy’s fairytale “meet cute” happened in late May of 2023 when Maggie came across Tommy on Hinge. His kind smile, warm eyes, and clever prompts caught her eye, so she swiped right. When he took a little too long to respond for her liking, Maggie sent an impatient “Bueller… Bueller…?” It worked. Tommy responded, the banter felt natural, and their first date was set for Las Fuentes. They’ve been inseparable ever since. The summer of 2023 was one of the best. They spent it getting to know each other even more—playing hooky on a random Thursday at the Museum of Science and Industry, catching a show at the Chicago Magic Lounge in Andersonville, and spending Lollapalooza weekend together. Flash forward to May 2024. They were in Paris for a cousin’s wedding and spending their last full day in the city before heading to Amsterdam. That morning, they set out on a beautiful walking food tour across Montmartre. There they were in Montmartre, with buttery perfection on every corner, and Tommy couldn’t even finish a single pastry. Not even a croissant. It was unlike him, but little did Maggie know he had something else on his mind—and it didn’t involve sampling pastries. The tour ended at the famous Love Lock Bridge. They picked out a lock and found the perfect spot, and just as Maggie went to place it, Tommy was suddenly beside her on one knee. And just like that, they were engaged. Today, Maggie and Tommy live in Lincoln Park with their two-year-old cat, Rupert, who keeps them entertained and insists on surveying his neighborhood kingdom from every window. Tommy is excited to begin law school in the fall of 2025. They still love catching a show together and exploring new restaurants around the city—and they can’t wait for all that’s ahead.
