It is funny how life goes. One day you are hanging out with your best friend from college's older brother and the next, you are marrying him. That is how our love story begins. The first time I met Jonathan was at his sister, Haley's debutante ball in Houston, Texas. It would be perfect to say that it was a Cinderella-type evening where I met my prince charming and happily ever after... But, not quite yet. As life went on, Haley was accepted into UT's McCombs Business School Program and moved to Austin! A group of us went out to a celebratory dinner and man, did I FINALLY notice that Jonathan was a cutie. So much so that I told Haley, "you're brother is really cute." This sparked several other not-so-chance encounters, one of which involved Haley and Jonathan coming over to continue the recycle of our college-aged coffee table. I looked a mess as I was painting a wall in my house and trying not to fall off a ladder while they moved the table. As they were walking out, my mom remarked how cute Jonathan was and we continued to peek out at him through the window. That's when I decided, I'm going to ask this guy out. My mind was made up, I texted Jonathan to go to the dog park and the first official date was set! From there, I continued the courtship in the true Heaton way - I wrote Jonathan's insurance. In an odd twist of events, shortly thereafter, a work colleague inadvertently forwarded our office phones to Jonathan's cell phone. To this day, I swear (wink wink) that I DID NOT forward the phones to him on purpose. When my co-worker, Matt and I, realized what happened, I was mortified. I texted Jonathan and apologized profusely. "I'm so sorry, I can't believe that happened, let me make it up to you." I asked him to dinner and he immediately replied "Thursday or Friday?" We ended up at Kome, our favorite sushi restaurant and in true fashion, Jonathan wouldn't let me pay and continued to not let me pay even til this day. The rest is our beautiful history!
