Our Origin Story

Have you seen the show New Girl?

Hi - it's me - Marge - listed above as "the bride". Thanks for scrolling down to this story - we love you for it. As most of you know Dan and I went to Bryant University together, but were not at the time, close friends. Fun Fact - I did sit behind Dan in a couple of accounting classes senior year - but at that time I only knew him as "Cape Cod" or the guy who I could definitely ask for the answers to the homework (thank you so much Dan). After graduation, like any Bryant graduate with an accounting degree I moved to Boston to start my luxurious career in public accounting at PwC (shout out!!). None of my girlfriends were on their way to Boston post-grad so I was about to be homeless. At the eleventh hour my guardian angel Mike Abramowitz came to the rescue and offered me a room in his house in Somerville for the next year. So I moved to Somerville as the only gal in an apartment of guys (queue the New Girl soundtrack). Everything was great, but sometimes the world was a little too chaotic. In those times, Mike always told me "don't worry things will be better once Cape Cod moves in". Since I didn't know Dan well, I trusted Mike. A few months later entering from stage left, aka the room down the hall was Cape Cod, and you know what, Mike was right, everything was better when Cape Cod moved in. We all fell into a rhythm of our New Girl life, the ups and the downs of navigating work and life and what not. Did I know then that I was falling for Dan? Absolutely not. Did everyone else know? Absolutely yes. Cut to PwC promotion day that next year which will go down in history as the first time I admitted to myself, and let's face it everyone at Cask'n Flagg'n that I liked Dan, and well the rest, is history. - XOXO Marge

An Italian Engagement

Was I the only one who was shocked?

Have you ever called your significant other out on not proposing to you the EXACT same day that they are going to propose? Well, I did. March 2023 we went to Italy with the DelVecchio crew. Hindsight, I should have known a proposal was coming but after ~6 years of dating you never really know. In the airport and the first few days of the trip, Dan was extremely concerned about his backpack, making sure he always had it or it was hidden whenever we got off the bus. As an oblivious bystander my thoughts were "wow Dan is really concerned about his Nintendo Switch". On day three of the trip we had a free night in Florence. After a great family hang on the roof deck of our hotel we headed off to dinner. While we were at dinner it started raining - no big deal right - just have to walk back to the hotel in the rain - right? Right. After dinner, and a couple of bottles of wine we stopped for gelato. Whilst there Dan realized he forgot his travel case of lactaids at the restaurant - and if you know Dan you know he lives for his lactaids. I didn’t believe him so I tried to check his pockets to confirm there were none. Little did I know he was carrying the ring in his jacket pocket - there’s a picture in the gallery where you can SEE the ring box. Back at the hotel, Dan and I were about to take a picture and he was still wearing his jacket inside - what a nerd. I told him to take it off, which he did, but he also got down on one knee. I screamed, said yes, and well- the rest is history. - XOXO Marge & Dan

The Somerville Years

Dan and I lived a block from Davis Square in Somerville for the majority of our relationship. We had the "penthouse" apartment in an old brick building on Orchard Street. This charming place featured some must have amenities including; (1) a creepy elevator that toward the end had a 50/50 shot of getting stuck between floors (2) no dishwasher (3) no air conditioner - OH baby were the summers HOT! (4) no control of the heat - OH baby were the winters HOT! All-in all though that apartment was quite literally the perfect place for us to live out our 20s, including through a global pandemic. We laughed there, we cried there, we sweat there (see AC comment above) and to be super sappy, we fell more in love there (aww shucks). It was bittersweet to leave Somerville when we did, but it was time and to be honest, we have never looked back! - XOXO Marge

Where are they now?

Suburban King and Queen

2023 was non-stop excitement for us. In the summer and fall we spent almost every weekend at open houses looking for our first home with every other human on the planet. There were ups and there were downs and we almost gave up, but at long-last our offer was accepted on a cute house in Tewksbury, MA. Now all of our time is spent talking about how much we love our house and how much we wish we were there right now. We are also constantly at Home Depot or Treehouse Brewery - and we do not hate it. I bet you five bucks Dan is looking at or thinking about the lawn right now, just ask him. We hope that we have the honor of hosting you at our house - now featuring our new accent chair (it swivels) - sometime soon. If it is not obvious we love it here. - XOXO Marge
