Maggie caught my eye a few weeks before our first conversation. One Sunday night she gave a 10 min. speech at Stanford Memorial Church in front of over a thousand people! I sat in the first row of the upper side section and had a perfect view of Maggie. She radiated while she spoke and I was blown away by her confidence and composure. I wondered if I’d ever get lucky enough to meet her! Sure enough, a couple weekends later our church hosted a community garden service project. I wanted to go as I had spent a lot of my first months post college working and not socializing but really I went hoping Maggie would come. And she did! As luck or fate would have it, Maggie, some of her Stanford friends and I ended up in the same little gardening group. At this point Maggie had no idea I existed. However, being the kind and amazing person that she is, as we sat down in the dirt to plant flowers, she turned around and introduced herself to me and a couple people in our group. Yes, Maggie made the first move! We connected over some mutual friends and it was just the perfect service project! So that started things off which led to me dm’ing her on Instagram…, a first real date over ice cream, and a lot of fun around Palo Alto and San Francisco. Then, Covid hit right as we started dating! While that wasn’t easy, I got to live in Utah for six months through the end of 2020 where we had so much fun together hiking, playing tennis, picnicking and even working remotely. One of my favorite parts too was spending time with the whole Ivory fam where pinball and pool parties were highlights! A new job for Maggie brought us back to the Bay Area at the start of 2021 and our dating could be summed up as burgers and burritos in cars. We loved it all and on February 27th, 2021, I made the best and happiest decision of my life to ask Maggie to marry me (she said yes!). We’re enjoying engaged life and can’t wait to get married in Salt Lake on August 14th and celebrate with all of you!
