How We Met

A Hinge Love Story

Michael and Ozelle’s story began with a small act of obedience—and a touch of divine humor. After being encouraged to open her heart (and her Hinge settings), Ozelle decided to let go of one of her non-negotiables: age. She hadn’t imagined her future husband being younger, but something nudged her to stay open. That same week—literally within days—Michael and Ozelle matched. What followed was something they never could of imagined. Their connection was instant, open, and full of intentionality. And in true God-has-jokes fashion, Michael turned out to be only eight months younger—a gentle reminder that sometimes the boundaries we let go of open the door to everything we've been praying for. From the very beginning, their bond felt divinely orchestrated. It wasn’t just good timing—it was God’s perfect timing. They quickly discovered a multitude of shared values, faith, and dreams, while still celebrating their beautiful differences. Whether they’re planning their next adventure or having deep, heart-to-heart conversations, Michael and Ozelle are always building something meaningful—together. At the core of it all, they’re best friends. What began with a swipe has grown into something sacred. And now, they’re beyond grateful to celebrate that love with all of you.

The First Date That Didn't Feel Like One

Cooper's Hawk & Andy's

Their first date felt like something out of a movie—though it started with a little surprise. Michael texted Ozelle to let her know he had arrived... a full 30 minutes earlier than expected. He added, “No rush, I'll be out here whenever you're ready." What he didn’t know was that Ozelle had been ready for nearly an hour. It ended up being the first thing they unintentionally bonded over: two people who value being on time without even trying. As she headed outside, Michael stepped out of his car to open the door for her. Waiting on the passenger seat was a bouquet of flowers—thoughtful, simple, and completely unexpected. The tone for the evening was quietly set. On the 45-minute drive to Cooper’s Hawk, Michael played Sade the entire way. The music, the conversation, the comfort—it all just flowed. Over dinner, they talked like old friends who were finally catching up. The spark between them was obvious, but it didn’t feel new—it felt familiar. After dinner, Michael remembered Ozelle mentioning her sweet tooth and suggested getting ice cream. On the drive there, the two broke into car karaoke—singing loudly and completely off-key like they’d done it a hundred times before. When they pulled up to Ozelle’s house at the end of the night, neither of them reached for the door right away. Instead, they stayed parked—talking, laughing, and getting to know each other even more. That final hour in the car felt just as special as the rest of the night. No rush. No pressure. Just connection. That first date wasn’t just a great night—it was the beginning of something they both felt was different. The kind of different that stays.
