Breakfast has always been a favorite food in the bride's family. Her family jokes that her grandparents only got married because of bacon and eggs, and without bacon and eggs, none of them would be here. The following is the Bacon and Eggs story from the grandfather of the bride's perspective: "In the summer of 1964, I went to work at General Dynamics in Pomona, Calif. The first six months I worked 80 hours a week on war game studies. I didn’t know anyone, so it wasn’t a problem. Your grandmother had moved into the apartment next to me, but I had never seen or met her. I met her the day she was moving from a studio to a bigger studio that had a stove to cook on. The studio she was in only had a hot plate to cook on and a very small bathroom. I went over and introduced myself. It didn’t take long, and we were spending a lot of time together. I took your grandmother on hikes in the canyon. We would also go on walks in the rain. She had a job at Sunkist in Ontario. Your grandmother had to get her job from an employment agency. They charged a months worth of wages for the job. She had very little money. She would buy hot dogs at the Orange Julius stand next door for dinner. Your grandmother only weighed about 105 lbs. and was very skinny. I knew she was hungry, so I started inviting her over on the weekends for breakfast. I always made bacon, eggs, fried potatoes, and toast. One day we were watching TV together, I told your grandmother, I was happy the way I am and I don’t plan on getting married. Your grandmother said "I don’t remember you asking to marry me." And that is how, the story is now part of the legend of your grandparents. I never did propose to your grandmother until while we were in the swimming pool in Hawaii celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary." The family jokes, if it weren't for bacon and eggs, they would have never gotten married.
