As we adapt to an uncertain time with COVID-19, we are monitoring the news carefully and are prepared to take every precaution necessary to make our wedding safe for our guests. With that being said, we will be following local guidelines and our guest list may change leading up to the wedding date. Due to the restrictions that may be in place, only those named on the invitations are welcome to attend. Our love story began three weeks into our freshman year at Creighton University, where we found ourselves in the same small group on Creighton’s Freshman Retreat. We both signed up not knowing what to expect, especially not finding our soulmate just a few weeks into school! What began as a friendship slowly (over a year and a half) blossomed into more. We soon did everything together: studying, eating meals, going to Mass, and joining the same organizations on campus. In short, we became best friends and our feelings for each other began to grow even more, so much so that Maren asked Zach to her sorority semi-formal dance two months early (to make sure he penciled it into his calendar). After laughing at each of our horrible dancing styles and not being completely embarrassed by one another, we decided that we had to be dancing partners forever. Our first date was at Market House in the Old Market. Sadly, Market House closed a month later after it was destroyed in the M’s Pub fire in 2017. Fortunately, we found many new favorites in Omaha and started our own traditions that we love (like tour de ice cream; yes, that's exactly what it sounds like). Despite spending seven months out of our first year together dating long distance, as well as another year of long distance once we graduated from Creighton, we have shared many more memories together and supported one another no matter where we were. Our long distance finally came to an end when Maren moved to Chicago in March of 2019. On a stormy June 1st, 2019, Zach took Maren to North Avenue Beach, just north of downtown Chicago. Even though there were large puddles and sand covering the path which ruined Maren’s new shoes, Zach insisted that we continue towards a specific spot to view the skyline. There, he got on one knee and asked Maren to spend the rest of her life with him. She of course said yes! We continue to make wonderful memories together and cannot wait to begin this next chapter of our lives!
