Marcy decided to go to her friend's bowling tournament while in school. She got up and went on a Saturday morning to Highland Park Bowl in Moline, IL. At the end of the tournament as everyone was packing up to leave, Marcy was introduced to Cole. Now, Marcy was not looking her best since it was a Saturday morning right after a fun Friday night. Cole, on the same hand, was wearing athletic shorts and cowboy boots. Who knew Marcy could look past that so called "outfit" and see a potential boyfriend. At this time, Marcy and Cole began to see more of each other. They had friends in common, Trevor and Brad, that they would hang out with together. Marcy would drop hints that she liked Cole, but it flew right over his head. Eventually, Marcy got Cole's number through a friend and she texted him. He did not know who was texting him though. Marcy and a couple girl friends decided it would be fun to keep it a secret. That did not last long though. After maybe a day, Marcy told him it was her texting him and that she liked him. Cole didn't really know what to say at this point, considering they were still talking through texts. They met up and hung out in person together alone for the first time. On May 5, 2016, Cole looked at Marcy and asked her to be his girlfriend. Of course she said YES! and he kissed her for the first time!
Marcy had absolutely no idea. Cole was a nervous wreck but beyond excited. This had been planned for weeks by Marcy’s sister, Alicia, and Cole. The plan was to have family pictures taken of Marcy’s family at Cantigny Park in Wheaton, IL. At least that is what Marcy thought. Marcy’s family and Cole got ready in the morning and headed on their way to the park. Alicia secretly carried a box around the park. Little did Marcy know, that box was for her. They started with some family photos, having Cole take them. They had Marcy thinking the box was full of camera equipment. They moved their way around the park, taking pictures and having a great time. Except Marcy was getting annoyed that Cole and Alicia were on their phones the whole time. What she didn’t know was that they were texting Cole’s parents and sister so they can meet Marcy’s family there when the engagement happened. We finally stopped at a beautiful staircase looking over a pond. Some photos were taken while Cole’s family hid behind some trees. And then it happened. Cole handed the box to Marcy. Marcy was so very confused. She couldn’t seem to get it open, so Cole helped her out. She was surprised to see red and white confetti grass everywhere and little notes and gifts that led to a final gift. She read the notes and saw all the cute gifts. Her face got red. She knew something was happening. She opened the little box that looked like a ring box, and surprise!, looked at Cole and said “thank you.” It wasn’t a ring. It was a Pandora charm. As she was putting things away, Cole took the box from her hands, set it on the ground, and got down on one knee. Marcy was in tears as he asked her to marry him. And, she said yes! Cole’s family came out and also surprised Marcy. The two families gave each other hugs and congratulated the young couple. It was an exciting day for these two love birds.
