Grand Californian Hotel & Spa - The Veranda It was about time for something to happen, as many of you thought. At Christmas time, Marcus gave me a batch of Stitch Roses (something forever longed for) and a special note that shared that special trip to the favorite hotel by booking the Veranda, a special area for guests to partake in continental breakfast, tea and crumpets, wine and cheese and dessert. A little surprise was left out. As a social worker, I was all questioning of the weekend events, the vague responses from Marcus and the fact that a special couple in our lives, the Sutherland's, were available to visit with us for the night! Marcus was overly obsessed with the weather, frequent checks, hourly updates and constant talk about it not raining, I thought he took up becoming a weather man. Upon arrival, it was shared that a special viewing area was available on the balcony at the Veranda for the evening firework show. A meal of dessert was had, wine was enjoyed and then we moved out the balcony for the firework show. MICKEY'S MIX MAGIC! A hilarious, rave party version of the firework show that we danced too, laughed and enjoyed. Among the bright lights and music of the firework show, little humans were stomping the secret cameras that were placed down when I was focused on fireworks. Traditionally, at the end of the firework show, we give each other a kiss. This time, I turned, he grabbed my shoulders and I was a little taken back. His thought, "this isn't starting off well." Marcus started to share about why he chose this special place, the fireworks, to have the support of a couple that we have looked up to and the love he had for me. Then, down on one knee, he asked me to marry him and I SAID YES! Thank you to the Sutherlands for the love, support and priceless footage.

Jokingly, the thought was that the engagement would last another 9 years but in a celebration of 10 years together we will be having a wedding! While running off to Vegas and being wed by Elvis seems like a fun idea, we could not imagine celebrating such an important day without all those that have given to our lives over the years. So many fun adventures, memories, musical parties, ugly sweater Christmas celebrations, Waffle Breakfast parties and an abundance of love from all of you, we are excited to add our wedding to the magical list of celebrations.
