Flight
Fly to Bogota from your US departure city and separately buy a plane ticket to Santa Marta from a national Colombian airline. LATAM and Avianca are the recommended National airlines. If purchased early enough in advance should be $50-100. You may need to play around with departing cities depending on where you live. Ex: flying out of Houston to Bog is double the price than flying out of Austin
Flight
Fly to Cartagena and road trip to Santa Marta (about a 3 and a half hour drive). Cartagena offers many tourist activities worth viewing over the course of 1-3 days. As an international airport, Cartegena is a good option for breaking up your travel by visiting another historic Colombian city. Currently, there are no flights offered from Cartagena to Santa Marta so you will need to take a bus from Cartagena to Santa Marta. Another option is to look at one-way tickets for your trip. For example: fly to Cartagena from your US location as a one-way ticket. Separately, purchase a one-way ticket from Santa Marta to Bogota and another one way from Bogota to the states for your return flight. This is ideal for those who want to go to Cartagena before the wedding but don't want to take a bus back to Cartagena after the wedding to catch their return flight home.

When flying to Santa Marta, it's recommended you buy a ticket from your US city to Bogota and then separately buy a Bogota to Santa Marta ticket through a Colombian airline. Avianca and LATAM are the recommended airlines and cost should be $50-100. This will be a cheaper option than purchasing the full ticket at once. There will likely be an overnight layover in Bogota, a hotel in the city of Bogota is recommended below. This hotel is great for those wanting to spend some time in Bogota before heading to Santa Marta. If you fly into Cartagena, you will need to take a bus to Santa Marta. If you decide to do this, please let us or Michelle's parents know so we can coordinate transportation. If you're flying out of Cartagena back home, we can also help coordinate private transportation from Santa Marta back to Cartagena after the wedding.
Hotel
A resort hotel, this is where Michelle and Marcus stay when visiting. We liked the proximity to the beach, luxurious amenities, and socialization opportunities across the expansive property. You may purchase a food plan through the resort and there will likely be English speaking staff available. If you'd like to book here- please email esmeraldatriana@irotama.com letting her know you're booking for Michelle & Marcus' wedding with the names of the guests that need to reserve, the dates you need to reserve, and your passport number. If you want to stay in a traditional hotel style room, let her know you want to stay in "Irotama del Lago." If you want an apartment style room with a kitchen, let her know you want to stay in "Irotama del Mar." Once she has that information she'll send you a quote with the price for your stay. That email will also have a link where you'll need to pay 30% of the total and you will pay the rest when you arrive to check in. Please feel free to CC Marcus and Michelle in when booking. Emails are: mchllcrisp@gmail.com & mhimelhoch@gmail.com

Recommended to stay here if you plan on staying in Bogota for a couple of days. This is where Michelle's dad would stay when on business trips in Bogota. The breakfast is amazing and is right next to Usaquen. Usaquen was the first locality of Bogota that dates back to the mid-seventeenth century. You can walk through the historic streets, buy crafts, and visit local bars and trendy restaurants serving traditional local or international food. Reservations can be made directly with the hotel supervisor at mk.jimenez@nh-hotels.com. Reference CRISP-HIMELHOCH for discounted rates.
Hotel
This is recommended for guests who are only staying in Bogota for a night and need a hotel close to the airport for convenience. This would be ideal for guests who are only staying in Bogota for a night to catch their flight to Santa Marta the next day and aren't planning on exploring the city.
