Table Mountain

Table Mountain

Table Mountain, Western Cape, South Africa

Cable car ride up to the top of Table Mountain. The best views of Cape Town are seen from the top of Table Mountain. The Cableway takes you to the summit in under 5 minutes and the cable car's rotating floor ensure that all visitors get a 360 degree aerial view of the city. The 65-passenger cable car runs from Tafelberg Road to the top of Table Mountain. To date the Cableway has transported more than 28 million visitors to the summit. A million visitors from all over the world use the Cableway annually. Table Mountain is proud to be one of the official New7Wonders of Nature, and the only one to be located in an urban area, making it highly accessible.

Cape Point Nature Reserve

Cape Point Nature Reserve

Cape Peninsula, Western Cape, South Africa

At the tip of the Cape Peninsula, 60km SouthWest of Cape Town, lies Cape Point. Located within the southern section of Table Mountain National Park; a declared World Heritage site, as part of the Cape Floral region. The Park encompasses 7750Ha of rich and varied Fauna and Flora. Cape Point is a nature entusiast's paradise. Rugged rocks and sheer cliffs towering more than 200 metres above the sea and cutting deep into the ocean provide a spectacular background for the Parks’ rich bio-diversity. The scenic beauty of Cape Point is not its sole allure; it is also an international icon of great historical interest with many a visitor drawn to the area because of its rich maritime history. Home to the Flying Dutchman Funicular and the Two Oceans restaurant.

Robben Island Museum

Robben Island Museum

Robben Island, Western Cape, South Africa

This World Heritage Site was once the home to the prison that Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 27 years during the Apartheid of South Africa. The Island provides shelter and a safe haven for about 132 species of birds including some endangered species. The boat trip to the Island provides an opportunity to see a wide spectrum of seabirds and mammals including Cape Fur Seals, Southern Right Whales, Dusky and Heaviside Dolphins. The Island is the summit of an ancient, now submerged mountain. It is linked by an undersea saddle to Blouberg. Its lower strata consist of Malmesbury shale forming a rocky and somewhat inhospitable coastline. Above this lies a thick limestone and calcrete deposit covered by windblown sands and shell fragments.

Big 5 Safari in Aquila Private Game Reserve

Big 5 Safari in Aquila Private Game Reserve

Aquila Private Game Reserve, Western Cape, South Africa

Named after the endangered black or verreaux eagle (Aquila verreauxii), Aquila’s story began in 1999 when its owner, Searl Derman, driven by a desire to share his passion for the wild with Cape Town, set about searching for the perfect piece of land to re-introduce the Big 5 to the Western Cape. He was fortunate enough to come across a nature reserve that would later become Aquila Private Game Reserve. Situated in the historic town of Touws River, in a valley between the Langeberg and the Outeniqua Mountains in the Karoo, the 10,000 hectare conservancy has evolved from its early days of being residence to various antelope species only to becoming the home of the Big 5 – elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard - as well as a significant amount of other wild game, which roam freely on the reserve. Our recommendation is the - Early Morning Safari ( Half Day ) - The early morning safari ensures that you get to be on the game drive as the animals start stirring.

Clifton Beaches

Boulders Beach

Simon's Town, Western Cape, South Africa

The sheltered inlet of Boulders Beach is located in the Cape peninsula near Simon's Town. Here exists a protected colony of African penguins which can be viewed in their natural habitat via wooden walkways. There is also an excellent beach for swimming nearby.

Franschhoek Wine Tram

Franschhoek Wine Tram

Franschoek, Western Cape, South Africa

With three centuries of wine-growing heritage, the Franschhoek Valley is one of the Cape’s top wine areas—and the Franschhoek Wine Tram, a vintage-style tram, is the perfect way to explore. Travel in air-conditioned comfort from downtown Cape Town, then choose between the purple and orange lines. Besides an onboard wine tasting and narration, you have time to visit multiple estates on one of two lines.

Signal Hill

Signal Hill

Signal Hill, Western Cape, South Africa

Signal Hill is so named because it was a site for flying flags to communicate weather conditions, thus providing opportune vistas of spectacular views. Enjoy an exhilarating tandem paragliding flight from Signal hill or Lions Head. It is by far one of the most exciting adventure sports in Cape Town. No other activity would let you enjoy spectacular panoramas of Table Mountain and City Bowl with no windows to block your view!  Tandem paragliding gives you an amazing sense of freedom. Once in the air, most people are surprised at how relaxed they feel. You'll sit comfortably upright (like on your sofa at home). You won't feel like you're sinking or falling at all, since you glide, nearly horizontally, through the air at around 40 km/hr.

Seal Island Boat Trip

Seal Island Boat Trip

Seal Island, Western Cape, South Africa

Seal Island is a small land mass located 5.7 kilometres off the northern beaches of False Bay, near Cape Town in South Africa. The island is so named because of the great number of Cape fur seals that occupy it. It is 5 acres in area and home to 64,000 cape fur seals.

Great White Shark Cage Diving

Great White Shark Cage Diving

Simon's Town, Western Cape, South Africa

We operate half day shark tours ALL YEAR round to either Seal Island or Cape Point as both offer very different opportunities and visibility. Possible shark species can include Seven Gill sharks, Mako sharks, Blue shark and the Great White shark. The location for the day will be determined by the best shark activity and sea conditions and will be confirmed with you the day before your trip. Whales, dolphins and many species of sea birds are often encountered on this adventurous expedition. As we adopt an eco-system style of operating our trips, going to sea with Apex is like going on a safari game drive and we will try to take in as much marine wildlife as possible on our trips. The departure point, Simon’s Town, is only 45 minutes from Cape Town, 15 minutes from the Cape of Good Hope and only 2 minutes from Boulders Beach Penguin Colony.

For all the days along the way
