Annie and Marcos could have met so many times in Tuscaloosa, but never did. They were both in engineering at The University of Alabama, worked in the exact same shop for multiple years on different design teams, and even had many mutual friends on facebook. They finally met at work in Hunstville, AL in 2021 and eventually got put on the same team, where Marcos sweetly answered a lot of Annie’s annoying questions. They slowly developed a great friendship built on memes, trashy TV shows, venting about work, and shared views on life. Feeling a connection, Annie asked Marcos out. He initially said no, worrying about how that might affect work and their friendship. After spending more and more time together, Marcos realized Annie may have had a point. Their first date was at Yellowhammer Brewing followed by watching You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, Marcos’ favorite comedy. Marcos asked to see Annie every day that next weekend and they spent all of their free time together after that. For a little over a year, their days were filled with watching documentaries, playing board games, adopting a second dog, lots of youth soccer games, meaningful conversations, and laughing endlessly. On July 20th, 2025, Marcos asked Annie to marry him. Annie totally knew it was coming. Marcos told her to get her nails done and asked if she wanted to get dinner at the Cheesecake factory because he had a gift card. On the way there, Marcos suggested taking a walk in Downtown Hunstville (not even close to the Cheesecake Factory lol). While walking through town, Marcos starts a speech and gets down on one knee in Big Spring Park. Annie, of course, said yes.
