In Philadelphia, the "Holy War” is a reference to the rivalry between two local universities, Saint Joseph’s and ViIlanova. Separated by just 8 miles on Lancaster Avenue, these two schools have decades upon decades of competition. The bride of this story? A 2016 alumnus of the Hawks. The groom? A 2015 alumnus of the Wildcats. The mutual connections would instantly be revealed. It's as if our first date was meant to remind us of the age-old saying: the world is a pretty small place. Because the truth is Philly is even smaller! The date was November 22nd, 2016 and the place was Strangelove's, a local bar that now holds a special place in our hearts. And so it began. Here we are, 4 years later. We fell in love here. We have walked the familiar city streets together and shared meals at restaurants that words don't give justice to. We’ve spent our days tailgating in empty parking lots and taking all the drives down the shore. We've traveled together. We’ve seen the jazzy streets of New Orleans and gotten matching tattoos in Ithaca, New York. But, of course, we always return home. We live together in a little apartment in Fairmount. And of course, we got engaged here - at our favorite spot where the Art Museum meets the Schuylkill River. Getting married in Old City around the holidays is something we have only dreamed about. We are so excited to share this moment – in this city – with our friends and our families. We look forward to seeing you on our special day - January 21st, 2022.
