Jessica and Marco met 13 years ago in Portland, OR at their friend Derek's (groomsman) house party. Marco was immediately drawn to Jessica as soon as he saw her from across the room. The two spent the evening chatting about tennis, travel, and their latin and Catholic backgrounds. A spark was ignited but fate would not bring them together for many more years. Jessica moved to Florence, Italy 2 months later and through their love of tennis and travel the two connected over social media over the next 10 years. Marco remained persistent on seeing Jessica again. Whenever she was home in Portland he would message her but schedules never aligned. In September 2022, Jessica attended the US Open and then traveled to Monaco. That year, Novak Djokovic, who was unable to play at the US Open and was instead home in Monaco. Jessica happened to run into Djokovic on the boardwalk and she immediately thought of the two people who would appreciate the encounter—her mother and Marco. She messaged Marco, and he was overjoyed, exclaiming, “She’s in Europe and thinking of me! I got a chance!” Fast forward to Jessica and Marco’s first time seeing each other in 10 years, Jessica invited Marco out with some friends in Portland. Avery (Bridesmaid) and her husband Johnny encouraged the two to grab another drink by themselves and that’s when it all began. The rest of the long weekend was spent making time for each other amidst the busy family activities. Jessica jokes “I felt like a little kid going on my first date”. Marco drove over to Jessica’s parents’ house, and her Aunt Liz, Uncle Henry, Mother, and Father peeked out the windows to catch a glimpse. “He drives a black Audi,” “Is he coming in?” they wondered. Little did they know that he would become the new addition to their family. Jessica and Marco started dating long distance between Portland and San Francisco. In December of 2023, Marco had exciting news of a new job at the California Tennis Club in San Francisco. The two moved into together and lived in Twin Peaks. A big move in 6months but the two knew they had found the one and continue to build their life in San Francisco. In May 2025 Marco proposed at the Fairmont Hotel, which had become a special place for the two of them. The rooftop garden where they spent their first weekend together, Christmas memories with the life size Gingerbread house, Easter mass at Grace Cathedral followed by the Easter egg hung at the Fairmont, birthday’s and dancing at the Tonga Room. Tony Bennett first performed his song “I left my heart in San Francisco” and Marco had truly left his heart in San Francisco. Their love story shows how they were connected by an unbreakable bond despite distance or time. And isn't it just so pretty to think All along there was some Invisible string Tying you to me
