While it may seem corny, silly or excessive, we sat down together shortly after celebrating the proposal (#SayYesToTheWes) to discuss what the wedding means to us and create a mission statement. It was a fun day of indoor rock climbing in downtown Chicago, followed by a lunch of tacos, margs and chips at Latinicity. After lunch, we discussed the aspects of our wedding that were most important to us. This involved a conversation of our core values and how they flowed into wedding planning. It was obvious to both of us that the relationship we have with our family and friends was indispensable. Our wedding day will not just be a party, but the first day in our lifelong marriage. We want to share this day with our closest friends and family who will be along with us on this journey. Each one of you has a special place in our hearts, and we cannot wait for both sides to meet each other. This mission statement has helped us make decisions about wedding planning along the way. If it didn't fit within the statement, we shouldn't give the decision much weight or power. This has been especially helpful when a global pandemic became an unpredictable factor during our engagement. While we have had to make adjustments based on #2020, and the look of our wedding has transformed - It will still be a day to celebrate our love and entwine our close families and friends.
