They met through a mutual friend in early 2015, and they didn't think much of it. A year or so later, they began to hang out, and really enjoyed each other's company. They stayed up late at night talking on the phone, and went on dates at Beercraft in Novato. In August 2016, they took a 10-day road trip through Oregon, Washington, up to Vancouver, BC, visiting many breweries along the way. Upon returning, on August 19, they went to Zeitgeist in San Francisco, and at a picnic table on the patio, she finally caved in to his charm and said she would be his girlfriend. The next three years consisted of numerous camping trips, visits to craft breweries, weirdness, and other adventures. On August 11, 2019, he convinced her to skip work and drive six hours north to Fern Canyon, one of his favorite places to be. Upon arriving, they walked betwixt 50-foot walls of cascading ferns and towering redwoods, until they reached a point in the trail where they could walk no further. Before turning around, he said he had a promise to make her. He got down on one knee, and promised to protect and support her, to always keep her happy and laughing, and above all, to always love her. She said yes, with tears in her eyes, proud to be wearing the same ring her grandfather gave her grandmother many years ago.
