How Our Forever and Always Began

From a blind date in early spring of 2025 to a romantic beach proposal the following year and beyond.

One late evening in December of 2024, Marcelle received a text from her brother Simon and sister-in-law Amanda, right after they went caroling with their church, saying, “We met your future husband.” Marcelle exchanged quite a few texts asking about him and received a couple pictures of him playing baseball in high school and a low-resolution college graduation photo. Even with looking a little young in the photos… he had great potential. A few months later, Marcelle and her mom went to visit Simon and his family in Michigan as well as in hopes of meeting this Nathan Beuschel. By God’s beautiful timing, Nathan was able to get his first day off from work that Sunday after working three weeks straight at his job. Simon introduced Nathan and Marcelle to each other just before Bible study began. Marcelle remembers seeing Nathan turn around for the first time to meet her. His eyes grew wide with surprise and was clearly not disappointed to see who his blind date was going to be. She was quite impressed how smoothly he composed himself and started up some small talk. They took in the Bible study lesson and afterwards went to the late service at the church right across the street, Our Savior Lutheran Church. The official date began, when they went out for brunch at the Morning Belle just a block or so away. Here Nathan passed two of Marcelle’s tests and he didn’t even know it. The first test was if he were going to open the door to the restaurant for her, and the second test was if he were going to pay for the brunch without hesitation. In Marcelle’s opinion, these were mandatory in finding out if he were a true gentleman. The workers at the Morning Belle were very kind and let them stay and get to know each other way past closing time. When they did head out at last, the temperature had continued to drop. Trying not to chatter teeth, they wrapped up and exchanged numbers in the cold and had their first photo taken together. Throughout the summer, the two stayed connected through multiple texts, phone calls, and FaceTime visits. To this day they have only missed a total of 5 days with not having some form of communication. In September, Nathan made his first trip out west. Together they explored a 1920 stone church, Camp Saint Malo, on their way to the Rocky Mountain National Park. In the Rockies, they enjoyed driving along the scenic routes and setting up camp. The following day, they enjoyed a beautiful 8 mile hike along multiple ponds, trees, and steep rocky inclines. After the camping trip, Nathan got to meet all of Marcelle's immediate family and visit different places in her hometown like the Historical Trail Center and the Rotary Park. Simon was in town for the weekend as well which was fun for him and Nathan to get to know each other more. On Sunday, it was special to have everyone together for Marcelle and her mom's Confirmation at Mount Hope Lutheran Church. After church, everyone thoroughly savored a brunch with family and friends. Before Nathan headed back east, he and Marcelle took in one more road trip up to two national parks: the Grand Teton and Yellowstone. Marcelle got to meet Nathan's immediate family on her Thanksgiving trip to Michigan and further got to know them on following trips. She is thankful and blessed to be able to marry into such a loving and faith filled family like her own. Nathan and Marcelle continue to make every effort to visit each other as often as possible, spending time with one another's families, and continuing to build a life together. Their story came full circle a year after they met when Nathan proposed to Marcelle on the beach of Sarasota at sunset — the perfect beginning to their next chapter together.
