Marcela and Michael’s journey begins much like many other South Florida Love stories; they find themselves on a warm and muggy summer afternoon under a tiki hut waiting on the rain clouds to subside. Marcela, there to meet a few mutual friends for a day of activities, while Michael rushed to the lake after an absolutely arduous four hour weekend shift at his then job. Just like any summer day, the goal was to have fun with some amigos, old and new, and create memories that would last a lifetime. Little did Marcela and Michael know, that day was just the start of the rest of their lives. It wasn’t an easy road for Michael at first, but as we all know, the best things in life take patience and perseverance to see through. Looking back, Marcela would’ve been a perfect addition to Erik Spolstra’s coaching staff because she could really run and operate a “zone” defense… The friend zone that is. Sports joke, get used to it. Michael was forced to adapt and find ways to score on this patented ‘Friend Zone’ defense Marcela had perfected. It took everything Michael had, and many shots were taken, but eventually the hard work (and cheap tequila shots) paid off. In the process, Marcela and Michael had created an inseparable bond of friendship and adoration that would span 7 years and counting. Throughout those years, the couple has shared with each other unforgettable experiences that they hope will carry to their future generations. Marcela introduced Michael to the beauty of the natural world with her love of plants, greenery, travel and cuisine; while Michael the adrenaline junkie, threw Marcela down a black diamond strapped to a plank of wood and pushed her into perilous walls of ocean water breaking over dry reef. In late 2021, the couple officially planted their roots in Miami and purchased a home where they live with their firstborn furchild, Shaka. If you need to find them, they are either surfing on a beach somewhere along the FL coast or prepping a family meal to share with their closest compadres and relatives. Marcela and Michael are so excited to celebrate their love with everyone. After all, YOU are as much a part of their story than anything else!
