Our Cosmic Story

January, 2014. Fall Out Boy and Paramore just announced their combined Monumentour for the summer. So naturally, we both wear our band t-shirts to school. Both of us were part of the music department at Los Medanos College, having dreams of being music teachers, so of course we cross paths the same day we wear our favorite band shirts. Lauren: Aye! I like your shirt! Marcela: Aye! I like your shirt too! Did you see they just announced their tour? Lauren: Yup! You getting tickets? Marcela: Hell yeah! You? Lauren: Abso-fucking-lutely We became FAST friends after that. Almost inseparable. Two years go by and its the Spring of 2016. After losing both of our dads and more the year prior, in our shared grief, we started to develop feelings for one another. Not wanting to ruin our friendship, we didn't say anything. A couple of months before the semester is over, a mutual friend of ours asks me (Marcela), "Hey. Did Lauren also text you about the dream she had? She said she kissed one of her best friends and didn't know how to feel about it." Since we talk and tell each other everything, I was confused since she didn't tell me about it. So, of course, that fanned the feelings even more. One morning that summer, we just stayed up all night talking and watching movies, we both had a feeling that we wanted to say something and didn't know how. Lauren ends up taking out a letter that she had wrote for me, saying all the things and feelings she wasn't brave enough to say out loud and hoping that I felt the same. We shared our first kiss on a camping trip a week later and the rest is history? (that's so cliche, I hate it LOL). We are very fortunate to live the life that we have! Through adversity, love, and loss, we have created a life that we are so lucky to have. We thank each and every one of you for being a part of our lives, and ultimately a part of our new beginnings.
