Marc and Nayeli met on a SMYRT (St. Mary's Youth Retreat Team) retreat and Nayeli did not like Marc at all. He was way too good at singing and at faking British accents, which didn't sit well with her. It was not until serving on multiple retreats with him that Jesus unfolded the goodness of his heart before her eyes. Then one day, while hanging out in the student center at St. Mary's in College Station, Marc asked her, "Have you eaten dinner, yet?". And she said, "No, why?" To which he responded "Do you want to eat food together?" And so they ended up going to McAlisters down the road and talking and singing for almost 4 hours (they had a perfect throwback playlist). From then, they continued going out to dinner, until one day, Marc invited Nayeli over to the Beach House and surprised her with the makings of her favorite meal- mac 'n' cheese. At this point, Marc and Nayeli knew they had a lot in common and really liked each other. Soon thereafter, at the Beach House once more for dinner, Marc took Nayeli to the back porch and, in the rain, asked her to be his girlfriend. Fast-forward many seasons ( MANY SEASONS), facetime calls (to keep the long distance manageable), and myriads of people praying for them, Marc asked Nayeli to be his wife.
