a day to remember

It was October of 2020 when Gentrey was a freshman on the softball team while Marc was a red shirt sophomore on the men's basketball team. Gentrey became very close friends with some girls on her team that were the same age as Marc, and one of them had a boyfriend that was Marc's teammate. Before they knew who each other were, Gentrey went to a basketball game and noticed Marc right away. A few days later, Halloween came and our friends Lorigan and Tanner were having a halloween party, who Marc and Gentrey both happened to be at. With some persuading from Lorigan and Tanner, as well as Santina, Marc (who was a hotdog) went up and talked to Gentrey, which lasted the rest of the night. Halloween was over and Marc and Gentrey started talking and hanging out whenever they could (which was not much due to both being athletes). They continued to talk for 5 months, and they finally went on an official date on March 29th, 2021; on this night Marc asked Gentrey to be his girlfriend. They continued to date throughout college, while Marc was getting his degree in mechanical engineering and Gentrey's in nursing, all while supporting and watching every one of each others games. Throughout the four years, the two have taken many trips all over the states and making lots of memories. Some of our favorites are Oregon, the Grand Tetons, Duluth and Nashville. In May of 2024, Gentrey finished her final season of softball, and a few days later, they would be heading to visit Gentrey's family in Oregon. And little did Gentrey know, that Marc packed an engagement ring in his suitcase. On May 9th, Marc attempted to ask Gentrey's dad for permission, but her dad, Doug, had different plans, that entailed watering 30 trees by hand with a 5 gallon bucket. Once the watering was done, he was finally able to ask the question that he was so nervous about. After getting permission from her mom and dad, on May 10th, Marc had told Gentrey they were going to look at engagement rings (she was completely fooled). As they were getting ready to leave, he took her to the backyard of her childhood home and finally proposed while her brother, Nolan, was filming. May 10th, marked the start of a new chapter, and we could not be more excited to continue counting down the days until we become husband and wife!
